Covenant UMC

In 1972, Covenant United Methodist Church became a blend of two different congregations – St. John’s United Methodist Church and Pinners Point United Methodist Church. Since that time, many additional families have united with the congregation to form the present Covenant UMC. The church family is comprised of families who live primarily in western branch Chesapeake, Portsmouth and Suffolk. Covenant is a small church filled with compassionate and caring individuals who strive to serve Christ through their actions.

The Portsmouth District of the United Methodist Church is located in Southeastern Virginia. We serve over 16,000 United Methodist members. The District is comprised of fifty-eight unique congregations located throughout Portsmouth, Suffolk, Isle of Wight, Chesapeake, Smithfield, Surry, Windsor, Franklin, Sussex, Wakefield and Waverly. Each church offers worship services, additional programs throughout the year, and personal support for those in need.
